Day 1 to 2: Itinerary
On arrival at Durban, you will be met by a Africa Travel representative who will assist you to Budget Car rental office for the collection of your hired vehicle.
Make your own way to Zimbali Lodge, 370 hectare (925 acre) tropical coastal residential and resort estate located on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa).
A 50 hectare reserve within the estate in addition to all primary dune areas have been demarcated as conservation areas providing a refuge to the rich variety of local flora & fauna. Limited pathways and wooden viewing decks through out these areas allow residents to interact with nature.Zimbali has several natural spring water lakes which create a beautiful habitat to the 85 species of bird, hosts of butterflies and a wide variety of indigenous plant life. Animal life within the forest reserve include bush buck, blue duiker, bush baby, vervet monkey, banded mongoose and even wild pig. No pets of any kind are allowed into the estate without the prior permission of estate management. The eastern frontage of the estate comprises a 3 km stretch of unspoilt beach forming a natural golden boundary between the rich green forest and the warm blue Indian Ocean. The design philosophy in Zimbali is to create a balance with nature.

Day 3: Itinerary
After you’ve checked out, you will proceed to Southern part of Drakensberg.
The destination, Moorcraft Manor is situated amidst rolling green hills and breath-taking sunsets on the outskirts of the country village of Himeville, 8kms from Underberg in the Southern Drakensberg. Moorcroft Manor is family-owned and operated and prides itself in offering the highest standard of service excellence, hospitality and comfort.
Moorcroft Manor is optimally positioned directly on the main route to the Sani Pass which leads into the Kingdom of Lesotho. A tour up the Mighty Mountain can be arranged either via 4 x 4 with a tour operator and guide or for a far more close encounter, a quad bike or rhino ride, with a guide. A visit to a Basotho village is a highlight of the trip as is lunch at the Highest Pub in Africa. Valid passports are essential for these trips.
Guided hikes and walks can be arranged to take you on a tour of discovery of the world of the lost Bushmen and their legendary rock art. This is a whole day trip and when leaving Moorcroft Manor you are provided with a picnic lunch. The hiking opportunities encircling Moorcroft Manor are countless and will appeal to both beginners and experienced hikers.
Other activities that are available are birding, horse riding, mountain biking, river tubing, wing-shooting and micro-lighting.

Day 4 to 5: Itinerary
After breakfast you will proceed upward to the northern Drakensberg Mountains, a World Heritage Site, where you will find Montusi Mountain Lodge. This is a spacious luxury resort in an idyllic setting with panoramic views of the magnificent Amphitheatre

Day 6: Itinerary
Make your way back to history – to the where the Anglo Zulu war took place.
Fugitives’ Drift is renowned for its battlefield tours to all the Anglo-Zulu War battle sites in the region. Fugitive’s Drift Guest House flagship tours to Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift are led by registered tour guides Rob Caskie, Joseph Ndima and George Irwin. All three are superb storytellers making the history of that day come alive and long family associations with the area and its people allow to offer you some unique Zulu perspectives.
Hear in gripping detail the background to the Anglo-Zulu War as narrated by David Rattray on the Day of the Dead Moon as you are driven to Isandlwana. Sit on the battlefield, mesmerised by the remarkable story of this fantastic Zulu victory. Listen at sunset to the famous story of Rorke’s Drift, where 139 British soldiers were attacked by 4,000 Zulu warriors, winning more Victoria Crosses than in any other battle in history, returning to the Guest House in time for a drink around the fireplace.This guest house is filled with Zulu artefacts and an interesting eclectic décor, with the original, old farmhouse as the dining and entertaining area. Terra-Cotta cottages have large, en-suite bedrooms that are tastefully decorated in a simple, ethnic style and all have private verandahs with sweeping views of the reserve and surrounding battlefields.

Day 8: Itinerary
You will check out and proceed to Johannesburg where you will drop off your hired vehicle.
